After 30 years, Freddy returns to the pizzeria as a security guard – a horror attraction. The player’s task is to survive for 5 nights and prevent the animatronic Springtrap from entering the office. If this happens, the game ends. There are additional characters, but they cannot attack Freddy, although they can hinder him from performing his security guard duties.
Freddy uses video cameras and buttons as tools to close doors and ventilation ducts. These actions are necessary to prevent the monster from freely moving around. The difficulty is increased by the fact that the surveillance system may glitch – a second Springtrap appears, which poses no threat but confuses the player. Additionally, the operating system may freeze and needs to be promptly restarted.
Ventilation may also stop working, and Freddy may temporarily lose consciousness. The difficulty increases with each day – more problems arise, and the monster becomes smarter and acts more logically. After the last day, if Springtrap did not enter the office, which cannot be sealed off by doors and ventilation, the game ends and the player wins.
