Volcanoids is created by unknown developers, but that only adds to its charm. As required by the genre of our collection, the action takes place on an island. However, survival will not be easy and not just by default.
The lore states that the island was once a paradise, with its own society. According to the scenario, the island was invaded by mechanoids and human existence was nearly wiped out. Thanks to the resourcefulness of the main character, they escape the invaders by activating a steam-powered drilling ship. Now, it is up to them to upgrade the ship in order to survive and fight against the iron invaders, with the goal of reclaiming the land for humanity.
Surviving on the island requires a non-typical approach. The main attraction is a volcano that is ready to erupt at any moment. The time between eruptions is the time for specific actions. The player must gather as many resources as possible in a short period of time. Many items are needed – components from damaged mechanoids, natural resources, food, and water.
Before the volcano erupts, the player must bury themselves in the ground and wait out the catastrophe. It is best to bury as deep as possible, as the depth determines the degree of damage. Crafting weapons, equipment, and modern upgrades for the drilling ship will be necessary. It is worth noting that the stolen ship serves as a mobile base, a transport with powerful weapons that can eventually be turned into a factory.
The island journey is somewhat reminiscent of a hardcore shooter, as the player has to venture out of the ship and compete against mechanoid automatons. Remember, once you start producing your own ammunition, survival will become a little easier. But only a little..
